Attendance & Punctuality
All students are expected to arrive at the centre by 8:50am each morning. The official registration period closes at 9:05am. Any student arriving after this time will be marked late. Students who arrive after 9:05am will automatically receive a late detention. Late detentions will take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Failure to attend a detention may result in an escalation of sanctions in line with the Behaviour for Learning Policy. Persistent lateness will be addressed through parent/carer meetings and may trigger further interventions, including adjustments to the student’s Individualised Learning Plan (ILP).
Behaviour Tiers
Tier 1 – Behaviour Warnings (Low-Level Disruption)

- Refusing to follow instructions
- Disruptive noises / shouting out
- Leaving seat or walking around without permission

Immediate referral beyond classroom warnings.
- Swearing in class (not directed at staff)
- Verbal abuse towards another student
- Damage to property / misuse of equipment
- Truancy / leaving lesson without permission
- Persistent defiance (ignoring Tier 1 sanctions)
- Inappropriate language/gestures (non-directed)
Consequence: Reflection (minimum 2 days); student placed on Behaviour Report monitored by Key Stage Lead; parental meeting arranged with Key Stage Lead.
Tier 3 – CEO Referral (Serious Incidents)
Escalated immediately to CEO and parent school.
- Verbal abuse towards staff
- Physical aggression towards staff or students
- Vaping or use of prohibited substances on site
- Bullying or cyber-bullying

Consequence: CEO notified immediately; parent/carer and parent school informed; possible suspension, managed move, or permanent removal from the centre.
Searches, Uniform & Mobile Phones
- Search and safeguarding procedures: Bag and clothing searches are standard practice for safeguarding and are conducted on entry each morning. These searches are carried out respectfully by trained staff, with same‑gender staff conducting the search where appropriate and a second adult present where possible. Cooperation with these procedures is a condition of attendance at the centre.
- Routine morning searches: All students will be searched each morning on arrival to safeguard both students and staff. Searches are conducted respectfully by trained staff, with a second adult present where possible.
- Standards & safeguards: Same‑sex staff conduct the search where practicable; no removal of clothing beyond outer garments (coat, hat, scarf). Intimate/strip searches are never carried out by centre staff and, in exceptional circumstances, are a police matter with parent/carer informed.
- Screening tools: A handheld metal-detecting wand may be used. Students may be asked to turn out pockets and open bags.
- Prohibited items (examples): knives or weapons, alcohol, illegal drugs, stolen items, vapes/e‑cigarettes, tobacco, fireworks, pornographic or extremist material, or any item intended to cause harm or disruption.
- Refusal: Refusal to comply with a routine search will result in parents/carers being contacted immediately; the student may be removed from onsite learning and this will be treated as a Tier 3 incident.
- Recording: All searches are recorded and monitored in line with the Behaviour for Learning and Safeguarding policies.
- Uniform: Students must wear the agreed centre uniform at all times. No additional layers (such as shorts under trousers) are permitted. Skirts must be knee-length or no more than 1 inch above the knee. Students failing to comply will be directed off-site to change; failure to return within the allocated time will result in a late detention.
- Parent school uniform policy: Students are expected to adhere to the uniform policy of their parent school. Any head coverings not required for documented religious observance must be removed upon entry to the centre. Parents/carers should inform the centre in advance of any religious or medical exemptions relating to uniform or head coverings.
- Mobile phones and devices: All mobile phones and electronic devices must be handed in at the start of the school day. Devices will not be returned until the end of the school day. Any misuse of devices or failure to hand them in will result in sanctions in line with the Behaviour Policy.
Anti-Bullying
Evolution Education operates a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, including cyber-bullying.
- All students are expected to treat peers, staff, and visitors with respect at all times.
- Bullying includes verbal abuse, intimidation, exclusion, spreading rumours, physical aggression, or online harassment.
- Any incident of bullying will be investigated immediately, recorded, and escalated to the Key Stage Lead or CEO where appropriate.
- Sanctions may include Reflection, Behaviour Report, suspension, or permanent removal from the centre.
- Parents/carers will be informed of all confirmed incidents, and targeted support will be offered to both the victim and the perpetrator.
ICT, Social Media & Equipment Use
The use of centre ICT systems, Wi‑Fi, and equipment is a privilege, not a right. To keep everyone safe:
- Students must only use ICT equipment for educational purposes under staff supervision.
- Social media use (including Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, etc.) is strictly prohibited on all centre equipment and networks.
- Any attempt to bypass security settings, access prohibited websites, or use social media during school hours will result in immediate loss of ICT privileges.
- Students are responsible for the care of centre equipment. Any deliberate damage or misuse (including vandalism, tampering, or neglect) will be treated as a Tier 2 or Tier 3 behaviour incident. Usage will be revoked, and parents/carers may be billed for repair or replacement.
Staged Behaviour Meetings
- Parental Meeting – A meeting with parents/carers to clearly relay expectations and outline required improvements.
- School Meeting – The student’s parent school will be invited to attend a joint meeting with the parent/carer and Evolution Education.
- Final Warning Meeting – A final opportunity for the student and parent/carer to engage positively and agree to behaviour expectations.
- Referral Back to Rapid Response – If behaviour fails to improve, the placement may be escalated back to the Local Authority’s Rapid Response panel for review, which may result in removal from the centre.
